Fahrzeugbeschreibung
1989 911 Speedster for sale.
<hr>
Just prior to the release of the 964 generation of the 911, Porsche would go on to revive the legendary Speedster - a name previously reserved for the purest and sportiest 356 variants. And so, in 1989, following a 35-year absence, the Speedster was revived. The 911 3.2-liter Speedster featured design elements that harkened back to the elegant and sleek design of its ancestor. The latter was reworked by chief designer Tony Lapine featuring numerous design cues, such as the “camel hump” cowlings behind the seats, which concealed the manual top. In keeping with the original essence of the Speedster, Porsche described the top as being for “temporary” use only.
Though the Speedster name had entered the automotive lexicon with the Ford Model T racers of the early 20th century, it was Porsche that popularized the term with its spartan and nimble rear-engine 356—a car that built its reputation on the race circuits of southern California while carving out its place in 1950s pop culture. Fitting, then, that the nameplate would be revived for the final year of the Carrera 3.2, with a limited run of two-seat Speedsters (option code M503) built between January and August of 1989—1,943 of which featured wide bodywork based on the 911 Turbo and 196 of which featured narrow bodywork like that of the standard Carrera 3.2.
This 911 Speedster was delivered new via Porsche Center Milano on September 15th, 1989. The Porsche was factory specified in elegant S7 Silver Metallic and built with the desirable optional M220 Limited Slip Differential. It has always been maintained throughout its life without regard to cost. Whilst its time in Italy, it was catalogued as A.S.I. (AutoMotoClub Storico Italiano) Targa Oro in 2009. In 2016, it was acquired by a Spanish enthusiast who has retained the car since.
This Speedster is presented for sale with 73.659km from new, retaining its original body and panels, matching numbers engine and gearbox, and free of any previous accident or damage. Complete with its original leather pouch, original service book, handbooks which include the original service/warranty supplement, keys and original key card.
It has just been fully serviced by Porsche Center Barcelona and is ready to be enjoyed by its new custodian.
