A 1600 MKII Roadster

De MGA werd in 1955 geïntroduceerd en zorgde voor een compleet nieuwe ontwerpstijl ten opzichte van de voorgaande modellen MG TD en MG TF. De bijzonder gestroomlijnde carrosserie was zodanig afwijkend dat MG er voor koos om dit model MGA te noemen, in plaats van een vervolg op de T-serie. Het resultaat was een stijlvolle en sportieve roadster met een langgerekte voorzijde en een lage zithouding. Inmiddels zijn we vele jaren verder en kunnen we nog steeds erg genieten van deze heerlijk rijdende roadster. Dat geldt zeker voor deze origineel in Nederland geleverde MGA.

De auto is oorspronkelijk als een CKD (Completely Knocked Down) auto geleverd in Nederland en vervolgens geassembleerd. De oorspronkelijke carrosseriekleur is naar alle waarschijnlijkheid Ash Green. Tijdens een grondige restauratie is er niet alleen voor gekozen om de kleur te wijzigen naar het stijlvolle en sportieve Orient Red. Tijdens deze restauratie heeft men er ook voor gekozen om de auto te wijzigen naar een MKII uitvoering. Daarom heeft deze MGA nu een body van een MKII en is ook het motorblok gewijzigd naar een 1622 cc motor. Het feit dat de auto ook voorzien is van schijfremmen voor, geeft aan dat men dit zeer zorgvuldig heeft gedaan.

De auto is al die jaren met veel zorg en liefde onderhouden. Dit is niet alleen te zien aan de auto zelf, maar ook aan de diverse onderhoudsfacturen die bij de auto aanwezig zijn. De prachtige kleur Orient Red heeft een diepe glans en is in goede conditie. Ook de diverse chroom- en sierdelen zijn nog in goede staat. En dit geldt ook zeker voor de bijzonder stijlvolle chromen spaakvelgen met vleugelmoren. Het prachtige verchroomde kofferrek is niet alleen erg handig, maar geeft de auto extra stijl.

Het interieur is in bijzonder goede conditie. De zwarte skailederen stoelen hebben wat lichte sporen van patina, maar zitten bijzonder comfortabel en goed. Ook het dashboard is nog in bijzonder goede staat en alle instrumenten werken naar behoren. Het originele zwarte ‘banjo’ stuurwiel is niet alleen schitterend om te zien, maar ligt ook comfortabel in de hand. De zwarte cabrioletkap en de zijschermen zijn ook nog in goede conditie. Verder is er ook nog een tonneau aanwezig, die ook in goede staat is.

Deze MGA rijdt en schakelt bijzonder goed. De 1622 cc benzine motor loopt rustig en soepel en levert voldoende vermogen om comfortabel te rijden. De auto stuurt erg fijn en ook de remmen voelen goed en stevig aan, mede dankzij de schijfremmen aan de voorzijde. Ook het schakelen gaat erg soepel en trefzeker. De MGA staat sowieso al bekend als een bijzonder vriendelijke klassieke rijdersauto, maar dat geldt zeker voor deze unieke MGA MKII!

This certainly applies to this MGA, originally delivered in the Netherlands.

The car was originally delivered in the Netherlands as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) car and then assembled. The original body colour is most likely Ash Green. During a thorough restoration, it was not only decided to change the colour to the stylish and sporty Orient Red. During this restoration, it was also decided to change the car to a MKII version. That is why this MGA now has a body of an MKII and the engine block has also been changed to a 1622 cc engine. The fact that the car is also equipped with disc brakes at the front indicates that this has been done very carefully.

The car has been maintained with great care and love all these years. This is not only evident from the car itself, but also from the various maintenance invoices that are present with the car. The beautiful colour Orient Red has a deep shine and is in good condition. The various chrome and trim parts are also still in good condition. And this certainly also applies to the particularly stylish chrome spoke rims with wing mirrors. The beautiful chrome luggage rack is not only very handy, but also gives the car extra style.

The interior is in particularly good condition. The black imitation leather seats have some light traces of patina, but are very comfortable and good. The dashboard is also still in particularly good condition and all instruments work properly. The original black 'banjo' steering wheel is not only beautiful to look at, but also feels comfortable in the hand. The black convertible top and side screens are also in good condition. There is also a tonneau present, which is also in good condition.

This MGA drives and shifts very well. The 1622 cc petrol engine runs quietly and smoothly and delivers enough power to drive comfortably. The car steers very nicely and the brakes also feel good and firm, partly thanks to the disc brakes at the front. The shifting is also very smooth and accurate. The MGA is already known as a particularly friendly classic driver's car, but that certainly applies to this unique MGA MKII!
