The Getrag 5-speed manual gearbox replaced the standard GM 4L80-E automatic, putting the control back into the driver’s hands. Not only did it sharpen the driving experience, but it also added 20 extra horsepower, taking the XJR to an exhilarating 331 hp (243 kW) with an earth-moving 512 Nm of torque.

Under the hood, the AJ16 engine roared to life, supercharged with an Eaton M90. The result? This refined four-door powerhouse could blast from 0 to 100 km/h in under 6 seconds and rocket to a top speed of over 265 km/h. Back in the 1990s, these were numbers that put the XJR into the same stratosphere as Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini – but wrapped in the understated charm of a British saloon.
